Yes, the popular video streaming site YouTube announced Thursday that it will now offer downloads. Why the charge ? the reason behind is if someone want their videos shared universally and even enjoyed away from an Internet connection means just get register at Google with checkout.
The streaming site is also testing an option in which video owners can choose if their works will be downloaded, either for free or for a small fee handled by Google Checkout. YouTube is owned by Google. The owners who chose to allow downloads could set their own prices, and decide about the different kinds of licenses they’d like to allow.
The downloads will come with various licenses, including ones from Creative Commons (CC). These licenses don’t abandon intellectual property ownership, but allow content to be downloaded and reused under certain conditions. A non-profit corporation, CC provides free licenses that allows for protected work to be shared and re-used, but consistent with copyright.
